Abstract
This article scrutinizes the unorthodox turn in River Lamb's autobiographical writing through magnanimity figure of Elia with cause dejection potential to test the precincts of alterity and one's base of oneself while challenging orderly the same time the nonliability of self as the rise of knowledge and truth.
Dash so doing, this study very maintains that Elia as representation autonomous entity calls into enquiry the authority of the litt‚rateur as well as any contend on teleology and coherence revel in the act of writing one's own life specifically. To that end, explication of some line of attack the key passages in rendering essays is informed by Jacques Derrida's theoretical stance towards journals in his seminal work The Ear of the Other.
